Finding your perfect Niche is the first step you need to consider when creating a successful online business. Websites can be beautifully designed. The content can be compelling. But you will waste a lot of precious time if you don’t have a specific product or service that people seek.
Finding your perfect Niche
A Niche is a specific topic. It is a product or service you sell, promote, or talk about. A niche is a specific segment of a market. For instance, let’s say you are a content writer, then content writing is your niche. Your niche can stem from a hobby that you enjoy, or a topic you are passionate about. It could be an idea that you have, and you feel it could resonate with a specific group of people.
Niches are about specificity
As you can see, Niches are about specificity. They speak directly to people’s concerns. If a niche is extremely broad, it is hard for your audience to see how you can help them. Take the baby market for example. If you only focused on baby, that doesn’t say much to someone who wants baby strollers. So, baby strollers is much more reachable and specific. The market “Baby” is too broad.
Let’s say your love Landscape Painting. If you choose “Landscape Painting” as your niche, you will find a lot of competition. It is way too broad.
It will be hard for artists to see you a solution to say traveling with their easel if that is their concern. On the other hand, if your niche were “travel easels”, you could be a significant help to them. You would be the solution to their concern.
Finding your Niche is about People
People are curious and often they want answers to their “specific” questions. If your business can answer those questions, they are highly likely to want to come back and buy from you as opposed to someone else. People want to do business with people they trust and who can help them with their concerns. Your Niche is the answer to their questions and the solution to those concerns.
Online marketers who have a very targeted niche can present ideas and provide answers to questions people don’t realize they have. The more targeted your niche, the more knowledge you can develop about it. As a result of this the better able you will be to help people benefit from your offering.
Always think of your Niche as a Way to Help people.

Life after your Niche
Finding your niche is one of the 7 Pillars to online marketing. We will be going much more deeply into these concepts in the coming weeks. For now, I have written a short post that talks about ways to bring your ideas to a specific group of people. As online marketers we do this by finding specific keywords that speak to our audience’s intentions.
An introduction to this idea can be found here Keywords are the Gateway to Traffic.

And, if you have any friends, who have expressed the idea of turning their great idea into an online business, please share this information with them.
